Restoring soil functions?

First publications of the Land Transition Chair

The Land Transition Chair's first publication : ‘Restoring soil functions?’, sets out the proceedings of the study day held on 21 March 2024.

Can degraded soil be repaired? How can its ecological functionality be improved? What materials are available for rebuilding soil? Can the cost of soil restoration be assessed? How can urban farmers adopt these techniques? These questions were on the agenda for the first study day organised by the Land Transition Chair. Ecologists, soil scientists, urban planners, geographers, anthropologists and economists pooled their expertise and areas of study to share the latest scientific research on the subject: this publication reports on their discussions.

The Land Transition Chair is a collaborative research project on soil and land, initiated by the Land Transition Institute and the Gustave Eiffel University Foundation, led by the Paris School of Urban Engineering and ENSA Paris-Est, with support from the research Institute of the Groupe Caisse des Dépôts, NHOOD and AREP.
